Over 70% of Angus Cattle in South Africa are red in colour. During 1992 we at Woodview decided to add a Red Angus stud as many of our customers were enquiring about Red Bulls. During the next two years, cows were selected from the herds of Wessel Wolmarans, David de Villiers and Charles Pope; in 1995 we purchased the entire Elslie herd from Hannes Muller. The Elslie cows were world class and gave the Red herd a huge boost. We also purchased the bull Leachman Monument together with a syndicate for R70 000.00. Monument improved the size, conformation and growth of our cows.
At present we run 225 Red females with genetics from Glacier Logan, Leachman King Rob, Moreland Emulous, Red Spread, Cheyenne, BJR Hoss 800, Cherokee Canyon, Major League, Mission Statement, Red Fine Line Mulberry 26P, Shoco Data, Laramie and Crowfoot Ole's Oscar, Conquest, Boxed Beef and Grand Statement. Many of South Africa's top Red Angus Breeders select their herd sires at the annual WOODVIEW Bull Sale. Bulls and cows are sold at our Production sales.
